Spousal maintenance is a payment from the financially stronger spouse to ensure their former financially dependent partner does not suffer undue hardship as a result of their separation. This includes same-sex couples.
It is usually only paid for a short period of time.
If you were in a de-facto relationship, you must apply within two years of separation.
If you were married, you must apply within one year of your date of divorce.
Typical questions are:
