Divorce and Separation Lawyers Perth

There are various ways of resolving family law issues without going to Court. In most cases the Family Court requires you to try to work out your arrangements for property and children before going to Court.

This can involve negotiating with your previous partner. Often this is not achievable because both parties are not able to discuss and negotiate without some help. This help can include obtaining a Family lawyer to contact your former partner and discuss and negotiate on your behalf.

Our team at West Coast Legal are very experienced with this process and can assist you.

I have seen Tannis several times for legal advice for the last 2 years. Until early this year I finally decided to go through with my legal separation.

Tannis was so understanding and accommodating. During this emotional and stressful process she made it easy for me. I highly recommend Tannis and the team.

When can I get a divorce?

To apply for a divorce you need to have been separated from your ex-partner for 12 months or more. The divorce application needs to be filed at the Family Court.

We can help you complete the application and cut through the emotional clutter and issues. Our focus is to provide sound legal advice and not find fault.

Can I apply for a divorce by myself?

Yes, you can apply for a divorce without having your former partner’s approval. You also do not need to prove fault in a divorce application.

Does a divorce mean that I am financially separated from my former partner?

No, a divorce does not sort out children or property issues. It is important you make arrangements separately within 12 months of the divorce. Otherwise, you may be out of time and the Court may not allow you to apply for assistance.

Our Perth family lawyers are able to help you make an application or respond to your ex-partners divorce application.

We provide reasonably priced help for you to complete and file the application.
