A restraining order is a court order intended to protect you from violence, threats of violence or any other behaviour that coerces or controls you or that causes you to be fearful.
The most common reason for seeking a restraining order is violence from a partner or ex-partner towards you or your children or you have a genuine fear that you are in danger without a restraining order in place.
If a person does not obey the terms of a restraining order, they’re punishable by law and may be fined or imprisoned.
There are three types of restraining orders issued in Perth – a Family Violence Restraining Order, a Violence Restraining Order and a Misconduct Restraining Order.
We deal mainly with Family Violence Restraining Orders (VROs) in a relationship breakdown. That is, where the applicant needs protection from their ex-partner.
We also consider negotiating Undertakings and Conduct Agreement Orders to protect you on an ongoing basis.
